BECOMING A REGISTERED ACCOUNTANT & AUDITOR - RAA (NAM)
The path for any individual who wants to become a Registered Accountant and Auditor, registered with PAAB, starts with the successful completion of Grade 12. From here there are two choices available for the academic part of the journey: registering with either the ACCA or with ICAN for either the Strategic Professional qualification, or the Certficate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) qualification. Both these qualifications are at the level of Chartered Accountant, and recognized by the PAAB.
Grade 12
- Grade 12
- Register for academic program (from the two mentioned above)
- Seek employment with registered audit firm, under Articles of Clerkship
- Register a 5-year training contract with PAAB, while studying towards the chosen qualification
Unaccredited degree
- Grade 12 and unaccredited accounting/finance degree
- Register for academic program (from the two mentioned above)
- Seek employment with registered audit firm, under Articles of Clerkship
- Register a 4-year training contract with PAAB, while studying towards the chosen qualification
Accredited degree
- Grade 12 and accredited accounting/finance degree
- Register for academic program (from the two mentioned above)
- Seek employment with registered audit firm, under Articles of Clerkship
- Register a 3-year training contract with PAAB, while studying towards the chosen qualification
THE AUDIT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - ADP
Upon successful completion of both the academic qualification and Articles, the prospective auditor can then register for the ADP. Once the ADP has been successfully completed, the individual may then register as a Registered Accountant & Auditor with the PAAB, and they may use the designation RAA (NAM).
